Instructions to obtain working papers & applying for SYEP 

If you are age 15 (by July 2023)  or older you will need to obtain working papers to work for Summer Youth or another job 

WORKING PAPERS

Contact: Ms. Rodriguez Room 301

1- Fill this HS for Teaching and the Professions application: https://forms.gle/q64XvZGw7JUAKiFW9

2- Once you complete step #1, get the paper application for working papers in room 301 

3-  Fill in only part I and return to Ms. Rodriguez along with 

• medical physical
• birth certificate
• social security card 

After completing the applications and submitting the documents Ms. Rodriguez will give you your working papers permit.

SUMMER YOUTH

Contact: Ms. Sanchez Room 308

• Apply at: https://application.nycsyep.com/
• For the question: “Is the applicant a current DOE - D79 Student? * ” - Select (NO)
• Click “SYEP Career Ready” 
• Select Children's Arts & Science Workshops, Inc. as the provider towards the end of the application 

Please Note: You may begin the SYEP application as long as you have your social security number.

SYEP Career Ready

Designed for students between the ages of 14 and 21 from select DOE schools to provide career exploration opportunities and paid work experience.

Benefits of CareerReady SYEP:

• Selection to the program is conducted by the participating schools rather than the online lottery
• Programs are co-created by the school and the SYEP provider to reflect the school’s program focus and students’ career interests
• Students receive comprehensive work-readiness training before their summer experience
• Provides opportunity to connect real-world work experiences with what you learn in the classroom, earn high school credit, and/or WBL hours towards a CDOS pathway
